John Abraham who was back in
fine form in record time after busting a knee during the filming of his
upcoming actioner, Force 2, had to follow a tough regime after recovery
to slip into the character of his upcoming films, his trainer Vinod
Channa reveals.
John who was also shooting for Rohit Dhawan's multi-starrer action project, Dishoom, simultaneously, sports a look inspired by wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock“ Johnson in the film as he reprises his role of a tough cop in Abhinay Deo-directed sequel to Nishikant Kamat's Force. “After the knee accident, he had to undergo three surgeries. All the hard work we had put in for the new looks lay waste. We had to start from scratch when he had fully recovered,“ Vinod says, adding that the 43-year-old actor had only three months to slip back into the Dishoom look.
“He was recovering from the surgeries and found even trying to walk very difficult so I had to get him to work out slowly, we couldn't afford to aggravate his injury. While he looked huge and muscular in the original, we've tried to make him look leaner in Force 2 for which we were prepping up when Dishoom came along. With a little more focus on diet, exercise and the intensity of workout, we managed to acquire both. John is vegetarian and eats only egg and fish along with vegetable and fruits. Also, we experimented with different workout routines rather than sticking to one so that he didn't get bored. If one day was weights, it would be cardio the next and so on,“ Vinod signs off.
