Enlarge ImageWhile the rich and famous have the luxury of escaping the country for cooler climes in the summer, that is not an option for Sanjay Dutt. The actor, who was given a five-year sentence, was recently let off after a 42-month incarceration.

Says a source, “The summer vacations are on in school and most B-Town stars head to Europe or the US to escape the scorching sun. But Sanju can’t go as he still hasn’t got his passport. When his case was going on, he used to get a passport with a one-year validity and would have to renew it every year. But since he was serving his sentence for the last three years, his passport expired. Now he has to apply again and he will get a passport, which will be valid for ten years.”

The source further adds, “Normally, when you apply for a passport, it takes about 60 days because it requires police verification. But Dutt will need clearance from the local police station, the CBI as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It will be a long and complicated procedure.”

But Dutt’s travails don’t end there, adds the source. “Once he does get a new passport, it is doubtful whether he will still be able to travel with his family to USA and UK, as the governments there may not grant him a visa.”
