It's important to protect
your skin throughout the year. However, surveys indicate that during
summer, women in India tend to skip moisturising as the rising
temperature leads to sweating. Due to the constant perspiration, we feel
there's no loss of hydration but, in fact, our skin loses moisture.
The summer sun also brings with it harsh UVB and UVA rays that cause sunburn and penetrate deeper to cause collagen loss. This triggers patchiness, premature ageing and even cancer. So, opt for a moisturiser that provides SPF protection and hydrates evenly. According to a study in the British Journal of Dermatology, people with well-moisturised skin acquire a fraction of wrinkles as compared to those who have dry complexion.
Highlighting the significance of hydrating, Delhi-based dermatologist Dr Shelja Agarwal says, “At a molecular level, your moisturiser 'holds' the water in the outermost layer of skin, the stratum corneum. It also prevents oils from escaping your dermis and protects it from harmful environmental elements.“
Revealing her summer beauty routine, actress Nargis Fakhri says, “After a shower, I always use Vaseline lotion as it moisturises well. That is its healing power.“
As part of Vaseline India's new contest, which launches today, eight lucky winners will win gift vouchers worth Rs 5,000 to buy their summer beauty essentials. All you need to do is upload your fun summer pictures on FacebookVaselineIN with #VaselineSummerMoment and stand a chance to win.
