BAAGHI IS A SUCCESS!
Everybody knew that Baaghi will open well but that it would have such a phenomenal performance over the weekend stunned everyone. For a film starring Tiger Shroff, who’s just one film old, to collect 15 crore on a Sunday is unbelievable. And the film has sustained very well in the weekdays which shows that the film has been accepted. The masses have loved the film as it’s extremely simplistic and easy to understand. And Tiger Shroff looks ideal for this role. A section of moviegoers laugh at him but a vast section of people love him for his action and dance moves. Shraddha Kapoor’s presence also is a huge factor. In fact she has worked in 5 films since 2013 and all her films have been hits – Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Haider, ABCD 2 and Baaghi. The film came at a great time as no Hindi film had really excited viewers since a long time. Fan seemed exciting but it failed to impress audience and fell in a way from Day 2. Before Fan, it was Ki & Ka and Kapoor & Sons but both these films were not the ones that appealed to mainstream audiences. The multiplex audiences loved it and that’s about it. But it’s Baaghi that has appealed throughout the country and this is reflected in its numbers.
Baaghi can have a dream run in Week 2 as well. The Hollywood biggie Captain America: Civil War releases tomorrow but it won’t turn out to be a huge competition. The Hindi releases (1920 London, One Night Stand, Traffic) won’t make any difference as all these are small-budget films. 1920 London can work but Baaghi won’t be affected. And Azhar releases next Friday but will it affect Baaghi remains to be seen. Even if it does make a dent, Baaghi by then would have earned considerably.
The success of Baaghi should serve as an important lesson to the filmmakers that they should make films that appeals pan India and not just to the 4-5 cities of India!
