After Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail and Finding Fanny, Deepika Padukone is up for another collaboration with producer Dinesh Vijan. Only this time, it's a special number for his directorial debut, Raabta, featuring Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon in the lead.
"Deepika is Dinesh's lucky mascot. When he shared the idea with her, she immediately came on board," reveals a source close to the development, adding that it's a fun, peppy number composed by Pritam and will be shot on June 1 in Budapest. Rehearsals are expected to begin soon.
The 30-year-old actress will be returning home for the second time in three months since she left for the xXx schedule in February. She gifted the film's director, DJ Caruso, of the Vin Diesel-starer a traditional kurta-pyjama along with blue mojris on the day they wrapped up. "Wow, what a wrap gift! Thank u for bringing Serena to life," Caruso posted on social media, adding he'd miss the desi girl. "I can't wait to come to India for the premiere."
There will be little time for the Bajirao Mastani actress to unwind when she returns after wrapping up her maiden Hollywood project, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, in Toronto as she air-dashes to the Raabta sets. The love story is co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Homi Adajania, the latter directed Deepika in Cocktail and Finding Fanny.
Buzz is, she could also be teaming up with Ranveer Singh for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama, Padmavati, to play the Queen of Mewar, though the director is categorical that the casting hasn't been finalised yet. If things do fall into place, it would complete a hat-trick for the trio after after Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.
