Varun Dhawan turned 29 with a party at his Juhu residence, which started on Saturday at 10 pm and continued through the night. Most of B'wood's young brigade, including childhood buddy Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Jacqueline Fernandez and Parineeti Chopra were present among the 50-odd guests, but fellow students, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, along with principal-mentor Karan Johar, were conspicuous by their absence. Mirror has learnt that the trio was travelling for work but made it a point to wish Junior Dhawan on his big day.

“It was a fun house party and Varun's parents, David and Karuna Dhawan, left soon after their son cut his custom-made Captain America cake,“ informs a guest present at the bash. Varun, in a Game of Thrones Tee, was in high spirits but largely kept away from the dance floor leaving it to Shraddha to burn it up with her ABCD 2 moves. “She hung around for hours with her girl gang, chatting briefly with her Aashiqui co-star Aditya.“

They mostly played English tracks with Varun's “Main Tera Hero“ title track receiving the loudest cheer. Athiya Shetty, who was in Bangkok, came straight from the airport. Anil Kapoor's beta, Harshvardhan, who will soon be making his Bollywood debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mirzya, was spotted trying to avoid the shutterbugs. “Arjun came with sister Anshula and his trimmed beard for Half Girlfriend was the talk of the evening,“ adds the source, adding that designer Kunal Rawal was almost unrecog nisable with a clean shaven look.

Varun's designer girlfriend, Natasha Dalal, looked pretty, but kept a low profile leaving it to his sister-in-law, Jaanvi, Rohit Dhawan's wife to play hostess. “The main course mostly included Indian cuisine. All of it tasted like good, ghar-ka-khana and everyone tucked in,“ says the source, adding with a grin that filmmakers Sajid Nadiadwala, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Tanuj Garg seemed to have plenty of food for thought as they talked shop.

Varun Dhawan turned a year older yesterday and a host of Bollywood celebrities came in to celebrate the special day with him. Ranbir Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Aditya Roy Kapur, Arjun Kapoor, Athiya Shetty, Ayan Mukerji and Siddharth Roy Kapur to name a few were seen driving into his house.

The party began late on Saturday night and went on till the wee hours. Sources present at the bash say that the celebs partied like there is no tomorrow. “Varun cut two cakes. One of them had a Captain America figure placed in the middle of a wrestling ring. It was designed keeping in mind that the actor is a WWE enthusiast and also dubbed the Hindi version of the superhero film recently. Both Hindi and English songs were played through the night and the guests had a really good time,” says the source.

The source also claims that Aditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti Chopra spent a lot of time together. “Both Aditya and Parineeti were enjoying each other’s company. Also, Arjun Kapoor and close friend Athiya Shetty left the party together. Apparently, the two had to attend another bash.”
