Fawad Khan explains what it would take to get him back on TV
Nayandeep Rakshit (DNA; April 1, 2016)
Even before his debut film Khoobsurat hit theatres,
Fawad Khan was a household name in India. Thanks to his brilliant
performance in Pakistani shows like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, he had a huge
fan-following even before he became a B-Town star. With his second film
Kapoor And Sons, it is now clear that he is here to stay. Fawad is
making history. He has worked in big banner films and with leading
actresses. No other actor from across the border has become so
successful in Hindi films in such a short time.
While top film actors are embracing TV, the case is a bit different for this hunk from Pakistan. He has come to movies after having tasted success on the small screen. What are his thoughts of returning to TV? Fawad answers a little hesitantly, “I would love to do TV again, but probably in a different way.”
He is not ready to act in the usual soap dramas. He is done with that. He explains, “Something on the lines of the American series Fargo would be great. Or even a True Detective kind of show. Maybe, a House of Cards. Something out of the ordinary and elements where the content is relevant. If it’s getting made, then why not? I will jump on to it.”
With series like Everyone Loves Raymond, 24 and Modern Family getting desi versions, it’s only a matter of time before other shows too get made for the Hindi-speaking audience. TV producers, now you know what to approach Fawad for!
