The actress is in talks to be paired with Salman Khan in a period film, tentatively titled Tubelight

It would not be wrong to say that Katrina Kaif is Kabir Khan’s favourite leading lady. He has directed her in three films: New York (2009), Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Phantom (2015). Last year, he made Bajrangi Bhaijaan with Kareena Kapoor Khan and this year, while everyone was expecting him to cast his favourite heroine opposite Salman in his 2017 Eid release, he is in talks with Deepika Padukone for the part.

This should put to rest all the rumours of Katrina and Salman being paired together post her break-up with Ranbir Kapoor. Says an insider, “Deepika has been almost finalised for the role. She hasn’t signed any films since last year and this will be her first announcement. The film goes on floors in July end-early August, by when she will have finished her commitment in Hollywood. The film is set in the 1960s.”

The source further adds, “There is also another hero in the film, who will play the character of Salman’s brother. The film is tentatively titled Tubelight, and that is also what Salman is called in the film.”
