The ambitious Sanjay Dutt biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor, will be a Christmas 2017 release. Shooting for the Rajkumar Hirani directorial begins this September.

The movie will also see Ranbir working with Hirani for the first time, though the actor did have a special appearance as an alien in PK, which released in 2014. He will be back on a film set after a break of almost a year-and-a-half.

When Sanju walked out of jail, Hirani was present in Pune to shoot the moment Baba walked out. It’s likely that the footage will make it to the movie. Says a source, “It’s not just about that footage. With Baba’s release, he will have time to get involved with the project and can give inputs. Something that he couldn’t do before.”

Though Sanju has led a very public life, Hirani believes that there’s a lot more to the actor than what is known to people. There has been much talk about the parts from the actor’s controversial past that will make it to the big screen.

There has also been speculation about who will play Priya Dutt with several names being thrown into the fray. The makers have, obviously, been extremely tight-lipped about revealing any details. Well, now all movie lovers have to do, is be patient and wait for Christmas 2017.
