Arshima Thapar was recently
assaulted on the set of her TV show by three production executives. The
actress refused to comment on the issue but we hear that the case has
been taken up by Cine & Television Artistes' Association (CINTAA) and
Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), and stern action
against the offenders is likely
action against to be taken.
A source says, “Arshima was not keeping well, yet she was asked to report early on the set the next day. When she refused, the production executives - Atul Chavan (Production Assistant), Ranbir Singh Chauhan (Production Head) and Akarsh Sharma (Supervising Producer) - had an argument with her. She left the set and when she returned after some time to sort out things, Atul held her by the arm and assaulted her. Arshima, who is epileptic, started shivering. She was too shocked at what had happened.“
Amit Behl, Senior VicePresident of FWICE and Joint Secretary and Chairman of the Dispute Committee, said, “We will not budge till a ban is imposed on these three production executives. It is not just about physical, mental and sexual harassment, but we strongly condemn such acts against women.“
Meanwhile, Arshima Thapar and her father, Dr Ved Thapar, have filed a NC (non-cognizable) complaint at the Malwani police station.
