Now a year-and-a-half later, Vipul is planning a sequel. “I am already working on a script for Holiday 2,” he lets on. Vipul adds the idea was always there from the very beginning. “We always knew that Holiday would materialise into a franchise when we thought of making the first part.”

But he explains that he isn’t making the sequel to encash on the first film’s success. “We would have made this regardless of box-office numbers. There are some films you know can be turned into a franchise while there are some which should be allowed to just be. Holiday definitely has the potential to become one. Hence, we are planning Holiday 2 now.”

And yes, Akshay plays the leading man again. According to Vipul, “He will be on another tour of duty this time. We discussed the sequel even before we released Holiday and he was very happy with the idea.” Not just Akshay, Vipul will also retain the director, “AR Murugadoss made the first film for us, which was a huge hit. Obviously, I will first approach him to direct Holiday 2.”

Vipul starts shooting for Namastey England with Akshay this year. “It is a fresh script and we start shooting in August. It will release next year.” And post that, the two will start working on Holiday 2.
