Women love men in uniforms.
And when the man in question is Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who
looks terrific as a highly-decorated Navy Officer, toh phir kya kehna!
He plays a Parsi character, Rustom Pavri, in director Tinu Suresh
Desai's romantic thriller Rustom.
A huge fan of Parsis for their immeasurable contribution to the Indian society, Akshay says it gives him immense pride to portray a man from the peace-loving community. The actor says it's sheer coincidence that someone read out a message to him that is currently doing the rounds on social media. It states that Parsis have never asked for a minority status or reservation though they form less than 0.1 per cent of the total population of our country. They have never destroyed public property or resorted to picketing. They are not threatened by Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs or Christians. Instead, India is blessed to have prominent members of the community like Homi J Bhabha, JRD Tata, Ratan Tata, Zubin Mehta and countless others, who have contributed to the welfare and growth of the country, not to forget, put it on the world map.
