Before the real action unfolds, magic moments from the star-studded Filmfare pre-awards night

Peshwa Ranveer Singh was one of the first B-townies to arrive at the Britannia Filmfare Awards pre party on Saturday evening. Dressed in a brown velvet shirt, blue velvet pants and a green velvet jacket the actor announced that he loved the “new, soft, velvety look“. The actor was in the mood to talk, hug and kiss, and stole the thunder when he sang “Malhari“, even shouting “Har har Mahadev“ and reciting his signature dialogue “Bajirao ki talwar...“ from his recent release, to send the crowd hooting and whistling. “It was like the stadium was cheering for Sachin Tendulkar,“ a guest informed.

While Ranveer ruled the red carpet, Sushant Singh Rajput and his lady love, Ankita Lokhande, tried to sneak past him and enter unnoticed. But Ranveer spotted the couple and asked Sushant why he was being sneaky. He then plonked himself between the two and stayed put till Sushant wondered why he was being a “kabab main haddi“. Reel life's MS Dhoni had eyes only for Ms Lokhande who looked ravishing in red and stuck to her side all evening.

Ranveer played host and sabka dost, kissing Karan Johar and donning his black-rimmed glasses before prodding him to give his favourite director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a jadoo ki jhappi.

The other guests were 'Hero' Sooraj Pancholi with his 'heroine' Athiya Shetty, Aditi Rao Hydari and Anushka Sharma rocking an androgynous look, happily married Gurmeet Choudhary with wife Debina and Vicky Donor Ayushmann Khurrana.

Sonam Kapoor was the belle of the ball in a black gown and Sonakshi Sinha who, when asked when she was planning to tie the knot, quipped, “Arey, koi ladka bhi toh milna chahiye.“ Well, we had expected her to say, “Khamosh!“
