(Crisp) Movie Review: THE HATEFUL EIGHT by FENIL SETA

The Hateful Eight is my first Quentin Tarantino film in theatres and it was a great experience! It might not be the best Tarantino film but the world that he creates and the way he manages to keep viewers engaged for more than 2 ½ hours is praiseworthy. However, the first half could have been more gripping. Thankfully, things change for the better from Chapter 4 onwards when one realizes that all is not what it seems. The film ends on a great unpredictable note. All the 8 principle characters give their very best but Samuel L Jackson, Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh stand out. It is great to see that Jennifer has been nominated for the Oscars. This one deserves a watch in theatres, especially for Tarantino fans, obviously. Sadly, the Censors have chopped off important moments from the film for being too violent. It is ironic that they didn’t cut a single thing from The Danish Girl that released along with The Hateful Eight. Can’t wait for Shyam Benegal’s committee to bring some positive changes so that this madness and bizarre behavior of the Censors gets Censored once and for all!
My rating - *** ½ out of 5!
