Taxi rests on an interesting idea and delves upon the dark and regressive policies of Iran but it is all done in an entertaining manner. It is directed by acclaimed Iranian director Jafar Panahi and features the director himself as the cabbie. The film is shot using pocket cameras installed inside a taxi. The 82-minute-long film is about the conversations that Mr Panahi has with various passengers. To avoid any problems, none of the team members have been credited in the film, not even the actors (except for Panahi’s niece Hana Saeidi who also features in the film). The beginning portions are outstanding, especially the road accident victim track. In between, however, the film drags but picks up again as the film ends on a high. Definitely worth watching and kudos to the brave Panahi who shot this film in Iran despite a ban on him on making films!
