He Named Me Malala is a documentary not just about the attack on Malala Yousafzai and her rise as a global icon but also about Malala the person. At the same time, the documentary delves into the life of her father and his role. An interesting angle of why she was named Malala and a huge coincidence that came to the fore is quite fascinating. The 88 minute documentary attempts to neatly explain the problems that the Talibans have brought with them in the Swat Valley, where Malala resided, and how education is so necessary in today’s times to fight a lot of evils. There won’t be a single person after watching the documentary who won’t be floored by Malala’s strength, down to earth nature and attitude towards life and the Talibans. He Named Me Malala is a documentary that is the need of the hour. A must watch for all!
My rating - **** out of 5!
