Angry Indian Goddesses (AIG)
said to be the country's first female buddy movie, revolves around
Frieda, played by Sarah-Jane Dias, who invites her closest girlfriends
to Goa to announce her wedding, and the trip soon turns into a wild
bachelorette party. It also features Sandhya Mridul, Tannishtha
Chatterjee, Anushka Manchanda, Rajshri Deshpande, Amrit Maghera and
Pavleen Gujral.
The movie unfolds each character's story amidst fun, chaos and complications. It was the first runner-up for the Grolsch People's Choice Award at Toronto International Film Festival and won the People's Choice Award at the Rome Film Fest.
Enthused with the response, director Pan Nalin says, “What started in a little village of Goa has gone global. I'm thrilled that finally the goddesses are home and ready to entertain the nation with their stories of celebration of Indian womanhood.“
The film also had a star-studded Indian premiere at the MAMI (Mumbai Academy of Moving Images) 17th Mumbai Film Festival, after which many celebs took to social media to praise it. Presented by Nandish Domlur of Protein Entertainment, this movie marks the entry of Jungle Book Entertainment in the industry. Producer Gaurav Dhingra says, “Set in 'real' India, AIG is a blend of mainstream filmmaking and cutting-edge storytelling. All of us know about the huge shift in the taste of mainstream Indian audiences, and I'm positive that our movie won't disappoint them at any level. The film is meaningful entertainment at its best and I'm excited about its nationwide release.“
