The Walk is an extraordinary tale of a man who was crazy enough to perform an insane but awesome stunt – a walk between the World Trade Centre towers in the 1970s. The film is light-hearted and never gets dull or emotional. What’s praiseworthy is that there’s not much of a story and yet, the film is engaging, even before the scenes of the risky walk. The manner in which Philippe and his accomplices plan the whole ‘operation’ discreetly as if they are planning a heist is amusing. The actual walk portions are the best though. Joseph Gordon-Levitt scores big time with his performance. Charlotte Le Bon, who impressed immensely with The Hundred-Foot Journey, is very charming. Great direction by Robert Zemeckis and good to see a film made by him in theatres for the first time! Watch this film only in IMAX…or else don’t watch it!
My rating - **** out of 5!
