National Award winning
director Ravi Jadhav, who has some successful Marathi movies to his
credit, including Natarang, Balak Palak and Timepass, is all set to make
his Bollywood debut with Eros International's Banjo. Riteish Deshmukh
and Nargis Fakhri will feature in the musical drama. The film is
expected to roll by the year-end or the beginning of 2016. This will be
Nargis and Riteish's second film together after Sajid Nadiadwala's
Housefull 3 which they have just started filming.
Confirming the news, producer Krishika Lulla says, “I'm happy Riteish and Nargis have come on board. I wanted actors who would fall in love with the subject and give it their all. It's an apt part for Nargis who plays a girl from abroad who is visiting India. We will be organising some workshops closer to the time they begin shooting,“ When prodded on whether the two would be romancing each other in the film, she quipped evasively, “Whether they fall in love or not is for the audience to find out when they watch the film.“
Speaking about the film, Ravi in an earlier interview to Times of India (May 26, 2014) had pointed out that he wanted to showcase Maharashtra in his first Hindi film and Banjo's story reflects an essence of the Marathi culture. “It's all about the banjo guys. I can't reveal much at this point in time, but it's a beautiful script,“ adds Lulla.
