Ahead of the release of his
upcoming Dunno Y 2…Life Is A Moment (that releases September 18), a
sequel to Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun.., actor Yuvraaj Parashar catches up
with us for a quick tete-etete. Here's how it rolled.
Don't you think it's a very bold step to play a gay character on screen for the second time?
I know most actors are scared to play a homosexual character. But I am not ashamed of it. I am rather proud as I believe in human equality.
How was life after Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun..?
It was very challenging. I didn't get any work for two years. As the producer of the film, I lost everything. I would weep all night and often go hungry those days. But I never lost my determination to address genuine issues in my films. Ironically, here in India I was facing the worst time with theatres refusing to screen my film because of its sensitive theme. On the other hand, it was received and applauded internationally.
Do you expect some changes this time?
In the last five years, things have changed and are looking better. I hope cinema-going viewers will realise that a film, which they shunned got noticed in international circuits. This time around, we are getting positive mails from people who are waiting to watch it.
