The action-packed reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi has had top stars — from Akshay Kumar to Priyanka Chopra to hit-machine director Rohit Shetty hosting it.
Shetty has already opted out of hosting this year as he’s busy with Dilwale. Akshay is busy shooting for films while PC is shooting for Quantico, Bajirao Mastani and Jai Gangaajal so they cannot host it this time. Buzz is John Abraham will be hosting the show this season.
This makes sense because John is currently shooting for Housefull 3 in London and will be free next month. Also, he has the look required for the show (read: muscle power). If all goes well, and he hosts the show, it will be the first time the actor takes to television.
In the past, he was the face of a show that revolved around tigers, The Return Of The Tiger and has been a brand ambassador for a TV show. At the time, he said, “In my capacity as a brand ambassador for such a series, I come in brief spells and go off which is always exciting. But, I am not open to it and don’t think I ever will be open to coming more on Indian television to do a regular show since it doesn’t fit in my mental space. I think at this point, I am definitely not open at all and this point will go on for maybe 10 years and more; I don’t know. I do not want to host shows either on TV.”
That’s set to change, says a source, “John has evinced interest in hosting the reality show and is in talks with the channel. The show starts November onwards, by which time the actor would have completed shooting for Force 2. He’s one of few actors with knowledge of action and stunts. For the channel, provided the financials are sorted, he’d be the perfect choice.
