It’s only a matter of time before Akshay Kumar’s
13-year-old son Aarav steps into his father’s acting shoes. The
light-eyed teen is naturally athletic like his father and has been
training in martial arts for some time now.
And while Will Smith’s son Jaden’s first acting assignment was at age 8, and he also starred in The Karate Kid reboot at 14, Akshay isn’t as keen as Will for his son to follow in his footsteps just yet, “No, I don’t want to bring my son into films. It’s his time to study now and I don’t want to put these ideas in his head.”
Jackie Shroff, AK’s one-time contemporary played his father in Brothers. Ask him which actors of the current generation he’d like to play a screen dad to, 10 years on and he shoots back, “Why will I play a father 10 years from now? I am not even thinking of it.”
Akshay, then, lets slip that someday, his son will be an actor. “I will play a father when my son starts to act.”
And so, papa kehte hain... it will happen, but in due course. Our fingers are crossed.
