Ever since the first instalment of Jason Statham's action-thriller opened in 2002, the franchise has become increasingly popular in India. After two sequels in 2005 and 2008, The Transporter: Refueled, is ready to enter the theatres with a new young cast including Ed Skrein of Game of Thrones fame, Ray Stevenson and Loan Chabanol. Now, Mirror has learnt that the makers are officially planning a Hindi remake of part 4.
A source close to the project points out that Indian market has, over the decades, been extremely receptive to dubbed Hollywood movies. And the goal now is to maximize the audience experience every year. Joining hands with Bollywood is a step further to make their presence felt, globally, since action flicks have always done well here.
No names are being divulged but an A-list director will helm it. They are looking to finalise things by early 2016. Confirming this, the official spokesperson from the production house says, "We are actively looking at an Indian adaptation of this highly popular franchise and scouting for A-grade action talent like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar or Varun Dhawan for the Hindi film."
Last year, Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer, Bang Bang! was the official remake of the Tom Cruise-Cameron Dias Hollywood film, Knight and Day.
