Ishita Dutta made a rather unconventional Bollywood debut, playing daughter to Ajay Devgn in Drisyham. And this younger sibling of Tanushree Dutta is already grabbing eyeballs

Ajay Devgn played you father in Drishyam. How much of a father figure was he during the shoots?
I have seen Ajay sir's work while growing up. People used to say that he has intense eyes and you get intimidated when you see him. When I shot my first scene with him, I stood in front of him and started shivering. I started saying my dialogues so fast that people would not even understand what I was saying. Ajay sir understood that and asked me to take my time. I took a lot of takes, but he was really patient. Father figure, no not really... but he was amazing!

So, was it fun working with him?
Absolutely! He rehearses with you and is very down to earth. We had heard that he plays a lot of pranks and I was hoping that he would play some pranks. But that did not happen on our sets probably because the movie was really intense.

Did acting happen because your sister, Tanushree Dutta, is an actress?
After finishing my college, I wanted to do something related to the media. I think my sister saw it in me before I did. She asked me to go for an acting course as she believed it would groom me as a person. So, I went to Anupam Kher acting school for three months and that's where a lot of things changed. From being a silent person, I started going on stage and performing. It gave me confidence and I started liking it. When the camera starts rolling, I am very different person.

And the journey to South just happened?
I started meeting people after I finished my course. I got an offer for a South project and I picked it up to gain experience. Similarly, I did a TV show, because it was a ground to set my acting skills, to learn and move on. And then, one more Kannada film happened before Drishyam.

Do you think TV helps?
Of course! Each and every project that I have done has helped me somewhere. It gives me the confidence, you learn. Plus today, we have an Anil Kapoor doing a 24. So, things have changed.

If not an actress, what would you have become?
I would have preferred something to do with fashion. I would have done something that I liked and not followed a norm. My father believed that you should do what you love so you can do it forever. That's the reason my sister is an actress. My parents are supportive.

Tell us about other inclinations that you have.
I am a big foodie, and I love cooking and baking. I make excellent chilly chicken! If I ever open a restaurant, I think my chilly chicken would be a hit!

List three mistakes you don't want to make as an actress.
I want to be very smart about choosing the projects and not get typecast. Even if I make mistakes, it's fine. I will learn from them!

Tell us about an interesting fan incident.
I had a sweet fan moment. Someone made a portrait and sent it to me. I have just started and I would love to have crazy fans.

Any message for your fans on Follo?
I would like to thank all of them! Thank them for liking my work and I hope to always do something that they will like.
