Wedding decor stylists Vivaah, who had designed the wedding theme of Arpita Khan’s nuptials, have been chosen by Shahid for his reception in Mumbai. Vivaah’s Rachana Lucknowala is personally overlooking the decor which will have varied sections projecting a different ambience. “All the sections are specially created with a different mood and setting, each drastically contrasting from the other at Palladium,” she says. The decor will also feature amber lights that Shahid has a preference for. “This wedding will redefine parameters of decor styling, creating varying trends this season,” says Rachana confidently. The reception for Shahid’s B-Town friends and family is scheduled to start at 8.30 pm.

The card is midnight blue
Shahid who had a traditional wedding, did not want anything traditional about his reception card. “It had to be about a party that people will enjoy. To convey that feeling he wanted the card to be in midnight blue,” says a source from Ravish Kapoor’s office who designed the card. A paper, which has a depth to it was used and an art deco border that gives it a classic elegant feel and yet is celebratory was chosen. Centered in the card is chrome plate that contains the event information — this plate can be removed and carried to the event. It doubles up as the security pass. The details are made of silver-plating. Below the invitation is a request that says ‘no gifts, only blessings’. “It was very important to Shahid that people did not feel the need to have to get him gifts,” says the source.

The midnight blue colour scheme was maintained on the envelope, with a touch of silver for the label. Shahid was very particular about the border. Several designs that ranged from geometric to damask (a pattern formed by weaving) were shown to him, but he loved the silver leafing done on the art deco border. The actor consulted his parents and Mira on the overall design direction.
