Ranbir Kapoor is now the brand ambassador of Renault India, one of the country's fastest growing automobile manufacturers. The brand is celebrating its fourth year anniversary in India this month, and Ranbir represents their promise Passion For Life which embodies what Renault does best building cars that are designed around peoples' lives, with the passion to make them desirable and attractive. Ranbir talks about his passion for cars and more.

Can you tell us about your earliest memories associated with cars and how this passion evolved?
I have always been fanatical about cars and motorsports and this passion has grown with time. Among the many memories I have about my growing up years, the ones associated with cars whether it was the long family drives or my first car stand out. For me, a car is an extension of one's personality. While I was growing up, India had only a handful of carmakers, so my education about automobiles grew when I accompanied dad on international shoots or when we went on family holidays. I remember one such trip to Paris, where I was old enough to jot down different car brands, and my amazement at the variety of cars around.

What other passions do you have?
Everybody knows about my passion for football and it has translated me into a team owner. Although acting is my passion, football is my first love and it shows in the investments that I have made in the game. My aim is to build the sport in the country, rather than just look at it as a business opportunity.

Why did you choose to become the brand ambassador of this automobile brand?
I am glad to be associated with a brand that's young, vibrant, forward-looking and connected to people. They have quickly established themselves in India, becoming the number one European brand, and I look forward to being part of the family and its growth journey in India. It is 'Passion For Life' that they endorse, and I couldn't agree more.

Your opinion on Renault's range in India.
They have a car for everyone - the adventurer, the family man, the statesman. Even though they cover a broadband width, all their cars are of superior quality, stylish design and spacious. When I first drove the Duster, I was impressed with its design and performance. I attempted some off-roading with it and it handled challenging terrain quite well. I also got a chance to drive their new MPV Lodgy, and it's a good choice for an outstation weekend trip with friends or family. Their new product for India, Renault Kwid, not only looks stylish, but is also brilliant to drive. I also have fond memories from Cannes, where I was taken to the festival in Renault cars.
