Abhishek Bachchan on how fatherhood changed his career decisions
Sarita A Tanwar (DNA; June 23, 2015)
Researchers from Yale University scanned the brains of
16 university-educated professionals at different stages of their young
child’s life, and discovered that becoming a father can trigger a major
brain chemistry change. While that’s purely on an emotional level,
Abhishek Bachchan admits that he has changed things even at the
professional front after his baby girl Aaradhya’s birth.
He further explains why things changed on a professional level, “For me, personally — a lot my colleagues might not agree with this and that’s fine — when I choose films, I consider my daughter. Tomorrow, I might change my perspective, but today I feel I would not want to be part of a film that my daughter could not see or would not be comfortable seeing. I would not be part of a film that my daughter would be uncomfortable seeing.”
He further adds, “I am not talking about sex comedies, but when I choose a film, it just has to be something that I feel my child should be able to see and not come and ask me, ‘What was that?’
Even though he is choosing films based on what his baby girl will see someday, for now, she is not watching his films. He reveals, “She doesn’t really see films. She is too busy reading fairytale books and nursery rhymes, etc...”
