SARDAARJI set new benchmarks for the Punjabi film industry with extraordinary collections over the weekend. The weekend has seen all records smashed for Punjabi films with the weekend business going over 8.25-8.50 crore nett across India. It has smashed opening records wherever a Punjabi releases be it Chandigarh, Delhi or even Aurangabad. The Sunday collections went to a huge 3.25 crore nett.

To put into perspective the weekend business of the film is that around 15 Punjabi films had released this year before SARDAARJI and the combined LIFETIME business of these films across India is 6 crore nett. This is 25% less than the WEEKEND business of Sardaarji

The weekday collections will determine how big the film eventually becomes but it is pretty certain to be the second highest grossing Punjabi film of all time. It will beat films like JATT & JULIET 2, JATT & JULIET and PUNJAB 1984 and it will do so simply on the strength of a spectacular opening and huge growth in multiplex screens over the last 18 months in Punjab. Most Punjabi films are tilted towards the comedy genre while SARDAARJI looked a masala entertainer and this may have added to the initial appeal of the film.

SARDAARJI is an All Time Blockbuster with a super strong hold on Monday. The film is already amongst the highest grossing films of all time. The first four day business of SARDAARJI is as follows.

The film has also done phenomenal business overseas as well with a $1 million weekend. Another first for a Punjabi film. The film grossed over $400k in US / Canada.
