After Tabu wowed the audience with her stellar performance in Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of Hamlet, another actress is gearing up to play the role of Gertrude. Wendy Glenn, known for her roles in American TV shows like CSI: Miami and You're Next, has been roped in to play the role of Hamlet's mother in Onir's contemporary take on the timeless classic.
Confirming this, Onir told Mirror, "Wendy immerses herself in the character, which is such a wonderful quality. She is a phenomenal actor and we are so happy to have her in the film. She is as stunning a person as she is as an actor."
Shot in the city of Manchester, UK, the film titled Veda is being shot extensively at Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford Upon Avon. The film will release early next year, after Shab, featuring Raveena Tandon.
Wendy admitted that it was a pleasure to be working with Onir on the amazing script. She said, "It has been a great experience so far and I can't wait for the next schedule in India to experience the magic of this country for the first time."
