Almost two decades later, Azhar's story will come alive on celluloid. But interestingly, in Ekta Kapoor's upcoming biopic, Azhar, Sachin's contribution to the former Indian captain's career will not be explored at length.
The Tony D'Souza directorial is divided into three segments as is explained in the teaser through Emraan Hashmi's voiceover: “Mera khuda hai ek, biwiyaan hain do, aur mujh par match-fixing ke aarop teen.“
According to the source, during an earlier brainstorming session, Sachin was to play a substantial role in the narrative, but now, he's been reduced to just a cameo. “The film delves more on the sensational aspects of Azhar's life than his playing career,“ reasons the source.
Without delving into details, the film's writer Rajat Aroraa told Mirror, “Many cricketers will be seen but at this point, I cannot comment on the length of anyone's role.“
The source informed that Ravi Shastri, Manoj Prabhakar and even Sachin's part will most likely be played by newcomers who are yet to be finalised.
