National award winning director
Madhur Bhandarkar is known to bring
out some of the best women-centric performances be it Tabu in Chandni
Bar, Priyanka Chopra in Fashion or Kareena Kapoor Khan in Heroine. Much
like his earlier films, each of which has explored the underbelly of a
slice of society, his upcoming release Calendar Girls that releases
August 7 will expose the underbelly of the famous 'Calendar Girls',
exploring and exposing the gamut of emotions
and the drama that they go through. Ruhi Singh won the Miss Universal
Peace and Humanity beauty pageant in 2014 and was spotted by
Madhur Bhandarkar as he was impressed by a documentary she had done.
He immediately signed her as one of his five leading ladies in his film.
Talking to us from Cape Town, where she is shooting currently, she told
us, “When I was in school, I watched Fashion with my dad and I remember
telling him how I wanted to be an actress and wanted to work with
Madhur. He was always my dream director. He is fantastic. And I am so
very grateful to the Miss India Organization. I have grown in the last
year, I won an international beauty pageant and since have bagged roles
in two films, Calendar Girls and Ishq Forever. I am very excited about
Bollywood and am so happy that I have another film in my hand before
even the first one releases. My motto is to never give up and am very
passionate about what I do. I am very grateful to the Times Group for
nurturing me as a person.“
