Aditya Srivastava has 25 films to his credit, including Bandit Queen, Black Friday, Lakshya and Satya. But he is most popular as Abhijeet, his character in the TV show C.I.D.

Even though he has been associated with the show for more than a decade, he still finds his journey exciting and unexpected. “When I joined the show in 1999, I was signed for only 26 episodes. But it got extended and I am still working,“ he laughs. “After we got appreciation for our work, it became a mutually comfortable zone and I decided to shift my focus to this show,“ he adds.

Aditya, who is now known as Abhijeet wherever he goes, says, “Abhijeet has overpowered the identity of Aditya and I consider that to be my reward. People share their real problems with us. They talk about theft and murder and we have to direct them to police, convincing them that we are just TV actors.“

He recalls a scene in which he was required to hang from a train and it took them three days to shoot it in Panvel. “That was tough. I was secured by a harness, and we took all precautionary measures. But I enjoy my work and all the challenges that come with it. What I also enjoy is the many disguises that I have had on the show... almost 500 so far,“ he signs off.

CID airs Friday to Sunday at 10 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
