Vivek Oberoi and wife Priyanka Alva welcomed their second child, a girl, into the world at around 12 noon on Tuesday. Their son, two-and-a-half-year-old Vivaan Veer, was by his mother's side at the Bengaluru hospital, along with his paternal grandparents, Suresh and Yashodhara Oberoi and maternal grandmother, Nandini Alva.
"Now, my family is complete," a delighted Vivek told Mirror from Bangalore. "Daughters are special and Priyanka and I are incredibly happy that it's a girl. I have once again experienced the joy of holding your newborn and realised that there is no greater feeling," added the 38-year-old actor.
The couple has been waiting for their second child since the first week of April. But she took her time coming. The Oberois flew down to Bangalore at the end of March in anticipation of the arrival but multiple complications made it an ardous proccess for Priyanka, the daughter of late Karnataka politician Jeevaraj Alva.
Vivek who returned from his trip to Germany on April 19, just in time for the birth, admits that the delivery was delayed by two weeks.
"Finally, my daughter was born on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya, I couldn't be happier," he exulted. "Both the mother and daughter are healthy and well."
Proud grandfather Suresh Oberoi added, "Wishes are flowing in for the newborn and we are truly grateful." When asked whether they have picked a name, the new dad exclaimed, "Not yet, darling. She's only a day old!"
