It appears that Ekta Kapoor is now making a conscious effort to move beyond her trademark saas-bahu shows. After trying her hand at reality television (Box Cricket League last year and the ongoing Nach Baliye 7) and a limited-episode series (Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye), she is now toying with the idea of a show dealing with astronauts and space sojourns.

Buzz is that Ekta is in talks with a Hindi entertainment channel for a finite series on the realm of outer space, a subject far removed from what she has been known for on TV in the last two decades.

Says a source, “Talks are already on with the channel and the casting is on. The plan is to sign known names from Bollywood. Rajkummar Rao will be seen in the lead and Boman Irani has also been approached.” Incidentally, Rajkummar had started his Bollywood journey with Ekta’s films like Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010) and Ragini MMS (2011).
