In a country obssessed with fairness, actors and actresses endorsing fairness creams isn’t new. Almost every A-list actor has endorsed the product, irrespective of the discrimanation against dark skinned people. Richa Chadha, who is dusky has always maintained that she won’t endorse fairness products as she feels strongly about this issue. She got the chance to prove that recently when she was offered mega bucks to become the face of a fairness brand. She turned it down in the blink of an eye. Richa has now joined the list of other celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor, Chitrangada Singh, Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranuat who have refused to associate with products that promote fair skin. Richa says, “As encouraging as it is to be approached by the brand, I feel one must take a stand as actors often do, against things they are not congruent with. We in India, tend to be racist, even though we are a country of brown skin.”
