Court is a very engaging fare, but sans the drama and ruckus that we often see in the courtroom sequences in our films. Yet there is plenty of entertainment in the film and one remains glued to the narrative, despite the mundane sequences of the characters shopping in the supermarket, cooking, driving etc. There’s absolutely no background score (even during opening and end credits) and viewers don’t even get the ‘something-is-missing’ feeling. It also attempts to throw light on the personal lives of lawyers and the judge and how they live in a world drastically different from the chaos and listlessness of courtrooms. Vira Sathidar (Narayan Kamble) makes a tremendous impact with his riveting screen presence and dialogue delivery. Vivek Gomber (Vinay Vora; also the producer of the film) is an actor to watch out for while Geetanjali Kulkarni (Public Prosecutor) delivers a stupendous performance. Pradeep Joshi (Judge Sadavarte), like Saurabh Shukla in Jolly LLB, plays a judge closer to reality and is very impressive. Sets are straight out of life and cinematography ensures that one feels that one is actually in the courtroom witnessing the proceedings. A well-deserved national award victory indeed! Don’t miss this film if you are game for an offbeat but entertaining flick.
