After almost two decades of a
successful run, the actors of CID continue to find
every situation in the show as challenging as they did when they first
started acting in it. Dayanand Shetty, who plays Daya, was shooting in
Mehsana, Gujarat, when we contacted him to ask about the long running
show and the powerful connect he shares with his audience. He said, “When
I first started working on the show, way back in 1998, I realised that
in addition to being just a good actor, you also needed to be sharp and
agile to run around like a detective. We have shot the show in real
locations, so one also needs to be accustomed to outdoor shooting and
encounter real situations like detectives do in real life.“
He is not surprised that audiences continue to watch the show even after such a long time. He said, “You might have heard of fallouts between co-actors, or an actor quitting or being replaced in other TV shows, but fortunately our team is very strong. We all share the same vanity room and our camaraderie is visible to the audiences too, who have loved us for so many years.“
The actor was found flying a two-seater airplane during the shoot. Enjoying the adventure, he said, “This is the best part of our job, learning special skills like flying an airplane and also performing for the show,“ he sums up.
CID airs every week Friday to Sunday at 10 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
