CBFC Chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani's banned list of cuss words may now make its way into a film. Goldie Behl's Hamein Aitraaz Hai, a satire on our constitutional right to freedom of speech and expression, revolves around a man who wants to channelise certain thoughts through a musical and the issues he faces with the authorities. And the producer admits that his script would touch on the recent censor diktat which became the talk of the country and mirrors the times we're living in. “Personally, neither Abhishek (director Abhishek Sharma of Tere Bin Laden, The Shaukeens fame) nor I believe in any kind of censorship, we believe in certification. So while I wouldn't want my young son to be exposed to scenes of gruesome violence, I wouldn't mind watching a thriller with lots of action and even some abusive language if it's justified in the context of the characterization. People should be allowed to watch what they want to see rather than a censored version. And I'm all for certification based on age like they have in the UK and the US. That is the way to go,“ he asserts.

However, he's quick to add that while he personally believes that the cuss list which was put out is “medieval“, his film which rolls later this year is a quirky take on issues and not a serious diatribe. And will there be any references to the AIB Roast too? “Not at the moment. I have no problems with this kind of entertainment if people are aware of what they are going to watch,“ he maintains.
