It can now be revealed that Abhishek Bachchan’s next, a
Vashu Bhagnani production, helmed by debutant Akshai Puri, isn’t a
remake of Do Aur Do Paanch, a movie his father starred in with Shashi
Kapoor, as some reports suggested. In fact, it will be a completely
fresh script.
There was some work happening at his end on a remake. Says Puri, “I was working on that but now, I’ve completely scrapped that idea. Also, it’s not a remake of an Amitabh Bachchan film. It is a two-hero project. Abhishek is already on board. However, we are still finalising the second lead.”
Abhishek confirms the developments, “I have agreed to do a film produced by Vashuji. Debutant Akshai Puri will be directing it. We are still in casting, but I am working with them.”
We’ve heard John Abraham is in the running for the second lead. Puri neither denies nor confirms this. “Right now, it is a bit early to talk about this. We are in talks and there is no confirmation yet. Once that is done, we will make an announcement,” he adds.
The new Vashu production sees him reuniting with Abhishek after 13 years.
