Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh
Sidhwani's first Indo-American co-production, 3 Storeys,
has Richa Chadha playing a glamorous character who
connects the three separate segments set in Mumbai. The actress
had earlier played a don in the duo's 2013 sleeper-hit, Fukrey.
Speaking to Mirror from Delhi, Sidhwani said, “Richa plays an integral part in the film. We always wanted her, she was our first choice, but the dates weren't working out earlier. I'm glad we have her on board finally. Her character brings in a new dynamic to the three stories.“
Given the innovative structure of the project which is being directed by Arjun Mukerjee, Richa's is not a full-fledged role and will be credited as a 'special appearance'. “But it's a colourful character. That is all I can say because if I reveal anything more, nobody will buy a ticket to watch it,“ Richa laughs. The actress added that it's an emotional project for her as she is reuniting with one of the producers of Oye Lucky! Lucy Oye!, her debut film. “The good thing is that we already have a prestigious American distributor in place. We will be touring festivals too. The film explores the issue identity in a metropolis.“ However, she was quick to point out that it isn't a Slumdog Millionaire-type of drama. “It reflects a different side to Mumbai that is not usually explored,“ she asserts. “I like to balance a Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela with a Three Stories.“
