Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor were the first choices for the new band member in the all-boys band in the Rock On!! sequel. But the dates didn't work and the hunt for a new face started in three countries (Mirror, December 19, 2014).

Now Mirror has learnt that fashion designer and actress Pernia Qureshi recently auditioned for the role along with 160 other girls. Confirming this, Pernia who makes her acting debut in Muzaffar Ali's period drama, Jaanisar, in which she plays a courtesan, says, “Yes, I have auditioned for the film. It's not the role of Farhan's (Akhtar) wife played by Prachi (Desai). It's a new role and I have my fingers crossed.“

Meanwhile, producer Ritesh Sidhwani admitted that Prachi Desai has been signed to reprise her role as Farhan's wife. Prachi obviously is under strict instructions not to talk about her role because after agreeing to speak to Mirror, she inexplicably became unavailable, refusing to take calls or answer texts. According to a source close to the development, the actress does not have a full-fledged appearance.

Prachi's character, Sakshi dies in the film and Farhan's character, Aditya after a period of mourning, is drawn to this sexy new band member with a “firang accent“.
