After convincing fellow filmmaker Karan Johar to turn bad in his upcoming period drama Bombay Velvet, Anurag Kashyap is himself gearing up to play a villain. No, it isn't a cameo in his own film but a full fledged appearance in Ghajini director A R Murugadoss's upcoming thriller.
A source close to the development told Mirror that Anurag has been signed to play the antagonist in the women-centric drama which features Sonakshi Simha as a college student who kicks some serious butt. Anurag was recently seen in a special appearance as a judge of a reality TV show in Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year. But his last serious performance was in 2011 when he played a local ganglord in Tigmanshu Dhulia's Shagird.
Confirming the news Anurag told Mirror "Yes, I am doing Murugadoss's next. I was first approached by the casting director, then I met the studio executives and finally got a narration from the director himself."
While Kashyap remained tightlipped about his role details, Mirror has learnt that the Gangs of Wasseypur director will be playing a quintessential Bhojpuri baddie. He will sport a handlebar moustache and Murugadoss has asked him to shave off his hair to look more menacing.
Added the source, "A final call on whether Anurag will go bald is yet to be taken. The film takes off mid-March in Mumbai with Sonakshi. It's an action thriller with lots of martial arts styled action. Sonakshi is already attending workshops to gear up for the role."
