What she didn't add was that her husband, filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and their son, Agni, had also contracted the same virus and had been admitted to Jaslok Hospital.
According to a source close to the Chopras, the trio fell ill three days ago, soon after Vinod Chopra launched the screenplays of three Guru Dutt classics-Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam, Chaudhvin Ka Chand and Kaagaz Ke Phool on February 23. That evening he also hosted a panel discussion which featured a trio of filmmakers -Farhan Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee - all of whom were influenced by the late filmmaker's works and celebrated his wife's birthday.
Over the last several weeks, the city is grappling with an onslaught of swine flu cases which it is ill equipped to handle. Private hospitals like Jaslok have just two beds allotted to serious cases. Fortunately, the Chopras, father and son, managed to get admitted to Jaslok where they have been kept under strict observation while Anupama has been recuperating at home.
"They have been making good progress and are likely to be discharged by Sunday," added the source.
