Priyanka Chopra’s plans of turning producer have hit a roadblock. Madamji, the Madhur Bhandarkar film for her banner, about the rise of a bar dancer to an influential politician, is apparently shelved.

While the team behind the film remains tightlipped about the sudden closure, a reliable source spilled the beans. “Madamji is not happening at the moment. The script sounded too similar to Mallika Sherawat’s character in K C Bokadia’s Dirty Politics,” says the source.

So has Madamji gone in for script revision? “Not at the moment,” says the source. “The subject doesn’t sound exciting enough.”

Madhur Bhandarkar refused to respond to calls or text messages.
