Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain is a brilliantly told film of one of the biggest man-made disasters ever. Director Ravi Kumar attempts to neatly explain the goings-on in the Union Carbide factory and how the safety measures were heavily compromised to cut operational costs. There are multiple tracks and each one of it is interesting and engaging. The last 30 minutes is when the film goes on a high. One wished the film had tackled about the aftermath as well as what happened to Warren Anderson and the manner in which he was given a safe passage from India. Nevertheless, it surely deserves a watch. The film also boasts of some memorable performances from Raajpal Yadav, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Kal Penn (adorable despite his American accent at few places), Martin Sheen (outstanding), Mischa Barton (leaves a huge mark in a cameo), Fagun Thakrar (her intriguing eyes made her perfect for the role) and Joy Sengupta (marvelous). Go for it and support honest, meaningful cinema!
My rating - *** ½ out of 5!
