Tiya, as a production designer, has assisted on projects like Life Of Pi and Ferrari Ki Sawaari, while Karan has worked as an assistant director with Rajkumar Hirani and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
Speaking to Mirror, Tiya said: “We have jointly written the script and it's quite different from the source material. We have interpreted the story in a completely different manner. The mentors at NFDC Screenwriter's Lab have gone through it and the screenplay looks even better now.“
Elaborating on the subject, she explained that old men--men in general-always talk about women, among other things. “Our story is about these three people who are older than the country. It's a commentary on the state of contemporary India and its politics told through the lens of the trio“.
Karan added, “It was purely on a whim that we decided to send our script to NFDC. The two of us will co-direct the film, which should go on the floors mid-2015. It will be shot mostly in Delhi.“
