Vashu Bhagnani's comedy of errors, Welcome To Karachi, which is currently being filmed in Dunsfold village, Waverley, UK, had a new addition on the set. A few days after props from the airport created in Birmingham were stolen (Mirror, October 20), the makers hired a Boeing 747 for the film's climax.
A source from the unit told Mirror, "Arshad (Warsi) and Jackky's (Bhagnani) characters accidentally cross the border while sailing in Gujarat and have to make a dash back home. Vashuji (producer Vashu Bhagnani) hired a Boeing 747, tanks and a fighter jet for the sequence, taking the budget up by Rs 2 crore."
Speaking from London, Vashu confirmed this, saying, "We needed the plane for eight days, three of which were spent on preparation."
He added that the initial plan was to shoot in Karachi but the logistics, including security issues, made them relocate to the UK. "We've created parts of Karachi in England but some exterior shots will be filmed in the Pakistani city. We plan to go there next month for a week. After that it will be pack-up," informs Vashu, adding that currently he is working on the climax with a cast of 500 junior artistes of varied nationalities.
