While Shahid Kapoor is busy garnering acclaim for his latest release, Haider, the film that launched him in Bollywood, the campus rom-com Ishq Vishk, is gearing up for a sequel.
Mirror has learnt that director Ken Ghosh has been developing the script for quite some time now and producer Kumar and Ramesh Taurani have agreed to bankroll his pet-project.
Revealed a source close to the director, "Ken was keen on the sequel but wasn't getting the right story. He finally found one and now it's nearing completion. Despite having directed films like Fida and Chance Pe Dance, he is best remembered for Ishq Vishk, which was a box-office hit."
The film, which released in 2003, marked the debut of Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao and found an eager audience in the youth. The film was responsible for giving Shahid the chocolate-boy image and the actor went on to star in many rom-coms after that.
Confirming the news, producer Ramesh Taurani told Mirror, "The script is almost finalised and we should have a cast in place within the next month or so. It's a great brand which we always were keen to take forward. Like the first instalment, the sequel will also be an urban rom-com set in a college campus."
Ghosh added, "I am fine-tuning the script. I will have more clarity on it in the coming days as by then, the actors will also be in place."
