(Crisp) Movie Review: PRIDE by FENIL SETA

After watching the excellent #FreedomForLGBT episode of Satyamev Jayate, I got a chance to watch Pride, a true story based on UK gay activists, on the same day, at the 16th Mumbai Film Festival. A brilliant, touching tale of how a homosexual group gets into an alliance with mineworkers during the UK miner’s strike of 1984. The bond that the two groups form against all odds and criticism is seen to be believed. The final scene is exhilarating. The film has an ensemble cast but somehow, Ben Schnetzer leaves the maximum impact. He looks dashing and delivers a power-packed performance. Jessica Gunning, Faye Marsay, Bill Nighy, Dominic West too leave a huge mark. Don’t miss this film if you get a chance!
My rating - **** out of 5!
