The Sunday 8:30 pm show of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night at a 216-seater PVR Andheri was sold out in no time, at the 16th Mumbai Film Festival. The next show of the film was on a Monday at 10 am in the 377-seater Cinemax Versova and I was surprised to see that almost 300 people turned up to see the film. It’s entirely shot in B&W and depicts an Iranian ghost-town Bad City where a lonesome vampire (played by Shruti Haasan-lookalike Sheila Vand) is out to eliminate the residents. The film is slow and takes its own sweet time but no complaints as its quite gripping. And it was fun to see the hijab-clad vampire targeting its prey and playing with them. However, the film beings to lose steam towards the finale, sadly. The final scene is quite intriguing though. Sheila Vand is terrific and Arash Marandi (Arash) too leaves a mark. Worth watching for the hatke experience!
My rating - *** out of 5!
